Each type of Workshop has a different mix of teaching/demonstration/advice/critiqueing styles to suit different ability levels and course objectives
Six Steps to Great Paintings/Six Steps to Great Landscapes These are my core workshops, giving theory, demonstration and one-to one tuition over 5 days, hopefully painting 3 or 4 new paintings with my unique 6 Step approach. The Great Paintings workshops are studio based and participants can bring Still Life subjects as well as Landscape references if they wish. The Great Landscape workshops hope to paint outdoors - en plein air - and so don't include Still Life subject options.
How2PaintThings I demonstrate, you copy - how to simply draw and paint lots of specific things - trees, boats, sheep, cows, mountains... and how to make them look real using light and shade
Six Steps Refresher/Critique You bring unfinished paintings, I critique them against my 6 Steps and you improve and finish several over the 3 days. Best if you've previously attended my 5 day 6 Steps.
Put Pzazz in your Painting How Focal Points and Centres of Interest give impact and pzazz to your painting. You bring your unfinished paintings and improve these two aspects using colour, contrast etc
Beginners Just what it says - for absolute beginners, gives you a simple, step by step approach to finishing your first two or three paintings - you get confidence and enthusiasm while having fun.
Becoming a Professional Artist A unique two year programme based on the academic year but very practical. Includes teaching, demonstrations, individual research, painting and drawing projects in studio and at home, plus being part of your group exhibition in Cong Art Gallery - all organised by you and your group. Selection strictly by portfolio and interview to ensure course suits you.

John Dinan has earned a reputation as one of Ireland's best practical painting teachers - his participants say they learn more with him than they've learned with anyone else about how to paint and draw, and in a really enjoyable atmosphere.His secrets are - decades of personal experience in painting, drawing as well as being a professional trainer - and plenty of preparation for every course. Plus his endless enthusiasm and enjoyment in helping other artists to improve - whether at Intermediate or Advanced level, and occasionally at absolute Beginner level. Your Local Art Group can Invite John Dinan
Any individual artist can join one of his many painting and drawing courses, but if you're a member of your local Art Group maybe you could arrange a group of your colleagues together and John Dinan can come to you. He enjoys visiting new locations, either indoors or outdoors, and by staying local, it may save you and your Art Group the cost of travel, accomodation and eating out.
Art Demonstrations
John Dinan also gives Painting and Drawing demonstrations, at Art Galleries and to local Art Groups. His unique Six Stage Approach shows how to make great paintings.
